Shatter The Silence
From The Message: The King Part 1
The number one question that comes from Christians today is “how do I hear the voice of God?”. The irony of the question is that it ignores that this generation is drowning in noise, idolatry, and apathy. Prior to Jesus’ birth the Israelites went through a 400 year period where Heaven was silent. For four centuries they could not hear from God, but in an instant they didn't just receive a word from God, but they received the Word of God.
You may have heard from Sunday school or pop culture about three kings that visited King Jesus for His birth. What is seldom talked about is the sacrifice they had to make to seek Him. The men traveled for two years and hundreds of miles just to see the King. This is a powerful revelation that still applies to us today- if we want to see Jesus and hear His voice we must make the sacrifice to get there.
The word catatonic means immobile and stagnant, not moving forward. In many ways much of the Church today can be described as catatonic, simply apathetic and uninterested in giving God everything. A two hour journey to see the King is often too difficult, let alone a two year journey. Paul’s words from the book of Ephesians apply more than ever to the generation of today “Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine upon you”. If we’d like His light to shine upon us we must first wake up to Him and seek Him with our whole hearts. God is calling a generation to not just surrender somethings, but to be like the wise men and the woman with the alabaster jar- He’s calling a generation to lay it all down at His feet in pursuit of Him.
• Jeremiah 29:13 says “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” God is calling you to lay down everything in pursuit of Him
• Religion and routines won’t get you anywhere; you must make the sacrifices needed to be close to Him
• The glory of being close to Jesus isn’t even comparable to the sacrifices needed to get there
