From The Message: What Do You Mean “If”?
Is it okay to give God 50%? Of course not! No matter who you ask you’d hear the common encouragement “get in or get out” coupled with the famous verse “If you are lukewarm I will spit you out”. What if I told you though there was a man who gave Jesus 50%, yet still saw a miracle because of his faith; let’s dive deep into this topic.
In Mark chapter 9 we read of a man whose son was demon possesed, the demonic forces would overtake him and attempt to end his life. Hope looked bleaque for the father as he brought his son to the disciples yet the demon still could not be cast out. But suddenly his son saw Jesus and the demon began to shake, throwing the little boy to the ground. The father cried out “Help us if you can!”, showing that the demons recognized Jesus power even more than he did. “If I can” Jesus exclaimed, “all things are possible to them that believe”! To which the father replied “I do believe, but help me to overcome my unbelief”, leading to his miracle.
It’s very clear the father did not give Jesus his all, it would be a stretch to even say he gave 50%, but he did give what he had. This astounding revelation has an impact on our lives- if God can use this man’s broken prayer, how much more can he use ours? The mustard seed of that man’s faith was used to move the demonic mountain he was faced with.
The truth is there is no such thing as an “if” with Jesus. the Bible does not say some things are possible to them that believe, it says all things. That revival that you’re seeking at your school is possible. That miracle in your family is possible. That child returning home is possible. But you must be the proverbial father in your situation and give Jesus whatever faith you have. If you only have 50% give Him that, if you’re at 75% today that’s all he needs. He doesn’t ask for 100%, He asks for everything.
• Turn your “if” into an “Is”; your miracle is possible
• Give God all that you have, “help me to believe” is a powerful prayer
• You must be the one to answer the call to faith, it may be scary but you are mighty
