It Can’t Stay Here
From The Message: It’s For Life
“In this life you will have trouble, but take heart for I’ve overcome the world”; this quote from Jesus rips away the ideal of having a life without any issues. We live in a generation where comfort is incredibly sought after, likely more than ever before in history. Mixing this modern ideology with Jesus’ promise of trials may leave you disheartened, but elsewhere we’re given a promise that we can rejoice in.
Psalm 30:5 tells us that God’s anger is simply momentary, but His favor is endless, that we may weep for a night, but it will not last because joy comes in the morning. This keys us in on something important: trials, struggles, and chastisement are guaranteed to end, while favor, rejoicing, and gladness are guaranteed to come. You may be in a season of weeping or struggling, but the promise is that it will not last!
What should you do in your weeping then? What should you do when what you see around you doesn’t match up with this promise? The key to taking victory over your situation is your praise. In the middle of your pain you can praise God because you know it won’t last. In the middle of your weeping you can remind yourself of Who God is, and that no matter how you feel, it won’t last.
Don’t live in your weeping, it’s only allowed a one-night-stay at the inn of your heart. Put your foot down and command yourself to not build a home in a season that’s only temporary.
